These activities are similar to traditional wordsearch puzzles—but with an educational twist! Each page features a grid of letters, with a list of words to one side. The reader is tasked with finding those words in the grid. Simple, right? However, the words in the list have been specially selected for their learning value—either because they are hard to spell, or because they are intended to stretch young readers’ vocabulary. As readers find them, they must draw a line through or circle them. So as they solve the fun puzzles, kids will be memorizing helpful information that will help them in their studies.

Number Search

Number search puzzles look a little different, but they work in just the same way. On pages of this type, readers will find a grid that contains numbers and mathematical symbols (x, +, -, =, and so on). Next to the grid are a list of equations. Kids are tasked with finding those equations in the grid—looking up, down, diagonally or backward. As they do so, they will be reinforcing key math skills—without even realizing it!
