Emperor Palpatine is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is the main antagonist in the nine-film Skywalker saga. His real name is Sheev Palpatine, but he is also known by his Sith name, Darth Sidious. Ian McDiarmid portrays Palpatine in the films.
