Christopher George Latore Wallace, also known as The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, or Biggie, was an American rapper. He was born on May 21, 1972 in Brooklyn, New York. He died on March 9, 1997 in Los Angeles, California.
Highlights
- Wallace had no plans to pursue a music career. However, a tape of his music found its way to The Source magazine. The magazine was so impressed that they profiled him in their Unsigned Hype column in March 1992.
- Sean Combs, also known as Puffy, heard Wallace's early tapes and signed him to his new label, Bad Boy Records. They worked on Wallace's first album.
- Wallace is considered one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. He was one of the most influential artists of 1990s gangsta rap.
