Minerva McGonagall is a fictional character and a professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. She is the Transfiguration teacher and Deputy Head of Hogwarts until 1998, when she becomes Headmistress after the Battle of Hogwarts. She is a highly skilled witch with disciplined and effective teaching methods. She is also the head of Gryffindor House and a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
