Why is Groot so special ? Groot's abilities are all-natural and stem from the dendronic wood that makes up his entire body. The extraterrestrial bark he was born with makes him invulnerable to most projectiles and even fire. He can control all plant life via psychokinesis, absorbing it into his body and making himself stronger. Groot is a fictional superhero from Marvel Comics who is a sentient tree from the planet X. He is also a longtime business partner of Rocket Raccoon and a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Highlights

• An extraterrestrial, sentient tree-like creature, the original Groot first appeared as an invader that intended to capture humans for experimentation. The character can only say the repeated line "I am Groot", but has different meanings depending on context.
• In the Marvel universe, Flora Colossi are highly intelligent (despite Groot making some … questionable decisions in the Guardians movies), but they're only physically capable of producing a sequence of sounds that sounds like the words “I am Groot.” Why? Because their larynxes are too stiff to make any other sound.
• Groot is incredibly strong and adaptable when he's fully grown. But as a teenager, he's not as experienced in battle (and very prone to moodiness), which landed him near the bottom of our ranking when the Infinity Saga concluded.
