Why is Thanos stronger in Endgame ?
Endgame Thanos was indeed more evil than Infinity Wars Thanos for several reasons. IW Thanos had known more about the Avengers, such that when he faced Tony Stark, he expressed genuine respect for him as a worthy foe.
Highlights
- The 2014 Thanos from Endgame was simply hungrier, and, after realizing that all six Infinity Stones were his for the taking, he likely fought that much harder. As a result, he appears to be significantly stronger in Endgame than he was in Infinity War.
- Due to sheer will and commitment to his beliefs, he was able able to accomplish what he was set out to do and, by Endgame, he was fully content knowing that he'd fulfilled his part. It's also the reason why he didn't put up a fight as the Avengers ganged up and eventually killed him in the garden.
- However, Red Skull saw his true intentions, informing Gamora that Thanos was, in fact, weeping for Gamora, as he truly loved her as a daughter, and was heartbroken that he had to sacrifice her to get the Soul Stone. Disbelieving, Gamora could not comprehend that Thanos ever showed genuine love for her.
- When Thanos does actually snap his fingers, the film cuts to this dreamlike world where Thanos confronts the younger version of his daughter Gamora—who he sacrificed (i.e. murdered) in order to gain one of the infinity stones and enact his plan
- In the aftermath of his failure, Thor had a new-found determination to kill Thanos and undo the Snap. The remaining Avengers converged on the Titan's home to find him wounded and the Infinity Stones destroyed. Seeking vengeance, Thor raised Stormbreaker and, with one fell swoop, beheaded Thanos.
